“Krasny Kotelshchik” consolidates its dominant position in the nuclear engineering market
“The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) manufactured and dispatched to the customer two Moisture-Separator-Reheaters (MSR) that represent a new equipment in the range of products not manufactured earlier at the enterprise. This project became an important milestone in the capacity development of TKZ and a strategic step towards the consolidation of its position in the market of nuclear power industry equipment.
Design and production of MSR became a result of engineering and production works based on the comprehensive analysis of operational characteristics of similar equipment, test results and application of the best experience of design-engineering school of the enterprise. The essential factor providing for a high-grade preparation of the project was the cooperation with the leading specialized research institutes of the industry. This allowed for the integration of actual process engineering solutions into the design and factored into modern requirements to nuclear power facilities equipment.
Moisture-Separator-Reheaters is characterized by the advance efficiency: it provides for achievement of the required parameters of reheat steam with a minimum pressure loss as well as permits implementing a more precise control over heating process. The equipment design solution introduced the elements made of innovative materials, which provided for the required heat-transfer and maintained a space-saving equipment dims.
The project implementation involved a comprehensive modernization of manufacturing processes: the rigging was improved to ensure optimal positioning of the body during assembly, a high-precision machining of complex geometrical elements on CNC machines was mastered, hydraulic testing of the equipment was performed, which confirmed its strength and leak-tight characteristics The project demonstrated a high technology readiness level of “Krasny Kotelshchik”, confirmed the scientific and engineering potential of the enterprise and its ability to come to grips with a complex and knowledge-intensive product top requested within the framework of the advanced nuclear engineering industry. Based on the results of delivery and acceptance tests and acceptance inspection performed jointly with the customer’s representatives, the manufactured MSRs successfully confirmed the conformance to the stated technical characteristics, the requirements of normative documents and quality standards — underlined Aleksandr Kondrov, Deputy CEO for Nuclear Power Plants at TKZ.
