“Krasny Kotelshchik” has held professional skills competitions for students
Public Joint Stock Company “The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) continues to actively work on career guidance for young people and the development of human resources in the industry. The company hosted a series of professional skills competitions among future welders – students of Taganrog colleges: the Mechanical College and the Tagmet College of Machine-building and Metallurgy. The guys approved themselves and got a chance to start a career at one of the leading enterprises of the Russian power engineering industry.
This year, students of 2-4 years took part in professional competitions, both those enrolled in the standard program and those who chose accelerated two-year training. All the contestants are interns who have completed an internship at TKZ. For some students, professional competitions have become a final qualification exam.
“Such competitions allow students to declare themselves to a future employer, and our company to see their strengths and professional potential. At the same time, we strive not so much to evaluate the guys, which is certainly also important, but, above all, to motivate them to follow a profession chosen by them, to immerse them into real production conditions, and show career prospects,” Head of TKZ Personnel Development Department Natalia Grishchenko says.
Taking into account the level of competence of the participants, the competitions were carried out during several days. The undergraduates completed the task on assembling and manual arc welding of the proposed structure. The second-year students completed three competitive stages: theoretical testing, assembly of a “creative” constructor, and practical fit-up and welding of a given structure.
The participants were evaluated by the plant's experts and teachers of educational institutions. All the students who took part in the competitions received a job offer. It means that after completing their studies at the technical school, they are guaranteed to be able to begin their professional career at TKZ.
“The practice at “Krasny Kotelshchik” has shown how the classroom differs from the real production. This is not just a theory, but a real responsibility and a great interest. These contests are a result of an exciting practice. I hope that soon, not as an intern, but as a full–fledged welder, I will return to TKZ, where I will do what I am fond of,” a student of the Mechanical College Maxim Guzienko says.
TKZ consistently develops partnerships with specialized educational institutions, investing in the training of qualified personnel. Earlier, the company signed an agreement with the Tagmet College of Machine-building and Metallurgy to open a modern welding laboratory on its basis in 2026. A similar laboratory will start operating at the Mechanical College this autumn, also with the support of TKZ.
